Dr. Carolin Klose

Vita

Carolin Klose completed her Bachelor's degree in Physics at the University of Konstanz and at Michigan State University in East Lansing, USA. She went on to pursue a Master's degree at the University of Konstanz, where she conducted her thesis on electron-phonon interactions in metals.

After spending two years with Teach First Germany at the Finkenwerder Community School in Hamburg, she began her doctoral studies in September 2015 in the Porous Media research group led by Dr. Simon Thiele at the Chair of Process Technology (Prof. Dr. Roland Zengerle). In early 2018, Dr. Severin Vierrath and Dr. Matthias Breitwieser took over the leadership of the group, which was subsequently renamed Electrochemical Energy Systems.

In February 2020, Carolin Klose completed her PhD with the dissertation titled "Novel polymer electrolyte membrane compositions for electrolysis and fuel cell systems". She continued her work as a research associate and later took on the role of group leader of Electrochemical Energy Systems – Fundamentals. In this position, she further focused on improving the performance and durability of hydrocarbon-based proton exchange membrane and anion exchange membrane fuel cells and electrolysis systems.

Since 2022, she has been leading the division Electrochemical Energy Systems.
